February 24, 2023

The groundbreaking ceremony was held today at the future site of the public safety headquarters. The City and Public Safety officials would like to thank everyone in the community who attended. We appreciate the continued support of our elected officials, residents and friends as we work towards opening the new facility. February 14, 2023

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility is scheduled for Friday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. Parking will be available on site. Residents, friends and media are welcome to attend.

 

February 6, 2023

During the regular council meeting on February 6, 2023 Mayor and Council voted unanimously to proceed with construction of the new Public Safety Headquarters for an amount not to exceed $25 million. Funding for the project is from proceeds of the Capital Project Sales Tax IV. Resolution 2023-03 can be found here with additional details.

 

January 30, 2023

During the city council study session, City Administrator Jim Clifford provided council a detailed update on the headquarters project, including budget updates, construction estimates and an updated rendering of the facade. A PDF of the presentation can be found in the meeting minutes here. The final draft of the facade is below.

October 3, 2022

During the regular council meeting on October 3, 2022 Mayor and Council voted unanimously to award a contract for Construction Manager at-risk to Hood Construction Company, Inc. of Columbia, SC. Resolution 2022-45 can be found here with additional details.

 

August 17, 2022

A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Construction Manager at Risk services for the Public Safety Headquarters facility was posted on the City's website and the South Carolina Business Opportunities (SCBO) website. Proposals are due on September 9, 2022.

 

May 27, 2022

On Monday, May 23, City Administrator Jim Clifford updated North Augusta Mayor and City Council on progress of the Public Safety Headquarters design. The presentation included updated site plans and building elevations. The PDF of his PowerPoint presentation can be found here. 

 

February 28, 2022 

On Tuesday, March 1, North Augusta Department of Public Services staff will demolish the former motel building at the site of the future Public Safety Headquarters located in the 1200 block of Georgia Avenue. Work to be performed includes complete tear down of the full structure and removal of all debris. Work on site will commence at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. Debris removal may take a few days post-demolition.

 

November 18, 2021

North Augusta Mayor, Council, Administration and Public Safety Director would like to thank the residents who participated in the November 17 public meeting to provide feedback on the proposed site plan and elevation for the new headquarters facility. Residents who were not able to attend can view the proposed facility renderings below. Much work remains to be done at the site and all design proposals remain in draft form.

November 12, 2021 

The City of North Augusta City Council will hold an informal public meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Palmetto Terrace Ballroom, 4th floor Municipal Center, 100 Georgia Avenue to review building design plans for Public Safety Headquarters. 

 


October 26, 2021

Starting Monday, November 1, North Augusta Property Maintenance staff will commence de-vegetation work at the site of the future Public Safety Headquarters located at the 1200 block of Georgia Avenue. Work to be performed includes removal of underbrush, litter and other nuisance vegetation. Residents with questions regarding the upcoming work should contact the City 803-441-4202.

 

August 12, 2021 

The public input session for the headquarters project will be held tonight at the Municipal Building, 100 Georgia Avenue. The location will be in Council Chambers starting at 6:00 p.m. Note the location change to Council Chambers from the Palmetto Terrace.

 

August 2, 2021

Save the date! The City of North Augusta will host a public input session on Thursday, August 12, 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 100 Georgia Avenue regarding the proposed location of the new public safety headquarters. This is a drop-in style event for interested residents to provide comments and ask questions about the proposed location and facility. Public Safety and City leaders will be available along with project design and construction management team members. A sketch plan review related to the project was held at the July 19, 2021 Planning Commission meeting; click here to read the report.

The proposed location encompasses three parcels, with the addresses of 1208, 1220 & 1220 1/2 Georgia Avenue, as shown below outlined in red.
