At North Augusta Public Safety, we have a crime victim advocacy program (CVAP) whose purpose is to provide after-incident support that can and usually exceeds support that emergency response personnel are able to provide. A few of the functions that the CVAP provides include the following:

  • Contact victims by phone or mail after a police report is filed
  • Assist victims who walk in seeking help
  • Help victims identify and address their most pressing safety concerns
  • Help victims develop a safety plan that meets their individual needs
  • Inform victims of their rights and options, and link them to available services
  • Explore eligibility for victim compensation and help victims apply as needed
  • Advocate on behalf of victims with various systems, such as criminal justice, housing, and public benefits

In an attempt to more thoroughly share the benefits of the CVAP, you are welcomed to review this victim assistance brochure.
